Italian craft.

Family made.

Millefiori is a range of Italian wines made by family winery Paolo Leo and sourced from vineyards in the Puglia and Veneto regions.

Five generations of winemakers in the family have shaped the landscape around the Salento peninsula in Puglia - the heel of Italy’s boot - a rock of limestone dividing the Adriatic from the Ionian Sea.

One of the most important agricultural areas in all of Italy, this beautiful region is blessed with remarkable landscapes of palm trees and cactus plants, sunshine, blue skies and a dream-like coastline.

In the Veneto region, grapes are sourced from vineyards in the province of Verona, just to the east of Lake Garda. This land of rolling hills and cool breezes provide perfect conditions for the production of wines with fresh, concentrated flavours.

The origins of Millefiori

Our wine range is inspired by the ancient glassmaking craft of Millefiori, or a thousand flowers.

The Millefiori craft was brought from Egypt to what we now know as Italy with the Romans and was perfected by the glassmaking families of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon during the 16th Century.

The story of the Millefiori Muse took shape as sailors returning from faraway travels, starved and weary after months at sea, would report sightings of a woman as they approached the mists of the lagoon, steering them safely to port.

Swirling tendrils of hair, porcelain-white skin and billowing floral robes with the pattern of this famous glassware, the dream-like vision became known as the Millefiori Muse.

From its beginnings in the Veneto, the story of the Millefiori Muse travelled to Puglia and beyond, as sailors still search for the floral robes to guide them to shore, just as winemakers look to the skies for the precise moment to harvest their grapes.
